The River Tyne is now regarded by many as the best salmon fishing in Britain. The landlord is a keen fisherman and can give advice on licenses and locations for river or lake fishing in the area.

Sea fishing for up to 10 people is also available by prior arrangment.

Hexham is in easy reach of a number of wonderful castles and cathedrals including the magnificent Durham Cathedral.

The staff can provide conducted tours of some of the local castles and cathedrals.

Hadrians Wall is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. The staff can provide personally conducted half day or full day tours of the wall.

Hexham provides excellent cycling including Hadrians Cycle (national route 72) and Northumbria's Cycling Kingdom. The Station Inn is often a stop for cyclists and offers cycle storage facilities in a locked yard.
